Welcome to my strange city - Aarhus
Part 6/8
Description
It is a flat country with endless winters and a record tax rate. And yet, Denmark has consistently been in the top rankings of the happiest countries in the world! How do Danes manage to be so happy?
Journalist Alexandra Alévêque is a model French woman, she is therefore grumpy by nature; she meets the inhabitants of Aarhus, the country's second largest city. Considered the happiest city in the country by the Danes... Aarhus is therefore the happiest city in the world!
Over there, on the eastern shore of the Jutland peninsula, the Danes live in a social harmony that many political leaders, from France and elsewhere, envy. Could this be due to the almost full employment of the population? Or to one of the lowest crime rates in the world?
In Aarhus, in any case, mothers leave strollers and babies on the sidewalk without any fear; they buy their vegetables there in total self-service, without any cashier or surveillance camera, relying on everyone's honesty; and the garbage collectors earn 4,500 euros a month, net of taxes!
