Millie, a young woman abused by her drunken adoptive father, takes refuge in an isolated house, reputed to be haunted, where Ronald Roberts, a famous writer about to get married, and his servant have taken up residence for a while. Millie’s presence, as she seeks to hide in the house, leads to a whole series of misunderstandings. Soon, the novelist falls in love with the young woman.
